What is TOIVO?
TOIVO group model was developed with the thought of “act-feel-apprehend”. This means that TOIVO groups plan activities (act) related to well-being and discuss how the activities impact their lives and mental well-being (feel & apprehend). TOIVO groups are designed to enable individuals to make small changes in their daily lives that would affect their mental health and well-being positively.
TOIVO Groups
Groups meet between 8-10 times and each meeting follows a similar structure like below:
- Create safer space rules, expectations of the group, and logistics
- Mapping self well-being
- Rest & sleep
- Physical wellbeing – what does your body tell you
- Nature & peaceful mind
- Food for mind(healthy and nutritious diet)
- Exercising and good vibes
- Coping with stress & relaxing
- Art and creativity to nurture the mind
- Last meeting
Each meeting covers a different theme related to well-being and mental health.
You as a facilitator
After this training, you will be able to form your own TOIVO group with a co-facilitator. MIELI Without Borders will support you with recruiting members to your group, finding space to meet, snacks and beverages for your group, and more.
The TOIVO facilitator training is a 5-hour training over 2 days that will help enable you to facilitate your own small group based on your interests.
