TOIVO peer group model was developed with the thought of “act-feel-apprehend”, where members of the group would decide on something to do together, upon which they’d have a discussion on the emotions the act evoked in them. The idea was for participants to come to realize small changes they can adapt in their daily lives that would affect their mental health positively. For example, paying attention to eating and sleeping habits, physical exercise, routine, etc.
Groups meet between 8-10 times and each meeting focuses on topics of wellbeing and mental health: healthy food, physical exercise, sleep, relationships, stress, emotions, etc.
As a TOIVO facilitator, you will have a 5 hour training over 2 days that will help enable you to facilitate your own small group based on your interests. MIELI Without Borders will support you with recruiting members to your group, finding space to meet, snacks and beverages for your group, and more.
The training will be held on Microsoft Teams. You can access the meeting on your browser or via the Teams app. It is recommended to hop online 10 minutes before the meeting starts as it can take some time to access Microsoft Teams.
